It was here that she met Tarek El-Moussa who would become her husband. The couple was very successful up until 2008's stock market crash, when a lot of real estate investors and house flippers went bust. Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa nearly bankrupted by the market crash in the year 2008. The couple moved from an expensive home where they paid $6,000 per month, to a modest home that cost just $700. Their business, as well as the general economy, have been recovering gradually. HGTV & Rise to Fame Tarek enlisted an acquaintance to develop an audition tape that would use by HGTV. This tape featured Tarek as well as Christina flipping the property from beginning to end.
